Had the poet said so in so many words, he would have been far less effective. Because, as I understand it, anything suggested is far more effective than anything laid down. Perhaps the human mind has a tendency to deny a statement.

Nobodys life ever goes according to plan.  So why do we keep on planning? Because that's how we know who we are. By what we intend to be. By what we try to become.  And fail. I don't say 'fail'. I saw we aim and miss. But we still hit something.

Remember that Puritans were utterly devoted, like literary critics, to the Word.

There’s more beauty in the truth even if it is dreadful beauty.
