Money is a good thing and it&#39;s obviously useful, but to work only for money or fame would never interest me.

The fact is I am a compulsive reader. Thirty-five cents’ worth of Gold Medal Original will put me right to sleep. Or Perry Mason. But I’ll read the ads in an old Paris-Match that has been used to wrap herring before I’ll do without.

To live is to leave a legacy. To live off is its opposite.

You will always be the bread and the knife, not to mention the crystal goblet and—somehow—the wine.
