stared fixedly into the sky like a rabbit trying to get run over by a car.

My waking and sleeping seem mixed together. I’m walking in a dream half the time, and sleeping through reality the other half.

Morning is when I am awake and there is a dawn in me…. We must learn to reawaken and keep ourselves awake, not by mechanical aids, but by an infinite expectation of the dawn, which does not forsake us in our soundest sleep.

I have retired, but if there&#39;s anything that would kill me it is to wake up in the morning not knowing what to do.
