I feel I have to work hard to nurture whatever talent I have as an actor. I feel like it&#39;s not natural to me. So I don&#39;t take it for granted... What I think is my natural ability - which is writing - I think I totally take that for granted.

I&#39;m not sure it pays to do anything remotely public in Britain. It&#39;s such a spiteful society. People seem to enjoy making your life hard for the sake of it.

The principle element in a performance is risk, and if you&#39;re losing interest then by scaring yourself to death the audience will feel it and boy it&#39;ll wake them up.

Every other day there&#39;s something - I&#39;m dealing drugs, I&#39;m starving people. I have never done a drug in my life.
